"Light of the World" (from Godspell by Stephen Schwartz) - Lead Vocals

This is from the newest release from Stage Stars Records, which was a TON of fun to record - probably the fastest recording schedule I've done so far! The best part about this record, for me, though, was that I got to record with my bestest friend, Marissa Rosen, who is the female solist on this song with me. We've also got the greatest backup in the world with Booth Daniels, Tim Herman, Aaron Lee Lambert, Dara Seitzman, Felicia Ricci, and Cheryl Orsini.

"Beautiful City" (from Godspell by Stephen Schwartz) - Featured Vocals

Again, from Stage Stars newest record, this was a truly unique experience to record this song. When we first started to rehearse the album, our music director, Tim Herman, wanted to include this song Beautiful City, which was never used in the original Off-Off-Broadway production, but was, instead, written for the film version of the show. Since the film, however, a lot of touring and regional productions have included it in the score, so Tim felt it was good to have on the album. The problem was - there were no backup harmonies in the score! None. So, Marissa Rosen and I, along with a nice bottle of wine...or two, literally spent a couple of nights at her apartment hashing out these harmonies ourselves. So, while you're listening to us in the background, remember that we are completely making this up as we go...also, imagine us with wine. So, here it is with Booth Daniels taking lead, and Marissa Rosen, Tim Herman, and I on backup. Enjoy!

"Not While I'm Around" (from Sweeney Todd by Stephen Sondheim) - Lead Vocals

I recorded this song in September of 2007 for Stage Stars Records. I sing the part of Tobias Ragg, and Marilyn O'Connell joins me on this one as the infamous Mrs. Lovett. To date, this song is the recording I am most proud of.

"Beethoven Day" (from You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown by Andrew Lippa and Clark Gesner) - Lead Vocals

And now for something a completely different. Again, from Stage Stars Records, this song was recorded in March 2007. On this recording, I sing the part of Schroeder with Jason Wynn as Charlie Brown, Alan Gillespie as Snoopy, Kristen Sergeant as Lucy, Booth Daniels as Linus, and Vicky Modica as Sally. What made this record fun for me is that I finally got to sing something upbeat and soulful, after consistently being hired to sing slow ballads. I dunno - I think I've got soul. What do you think?

"Sixteen Going On Seventeen" (from The Sound of Music by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein) - Lead Vocals

This is the second time I got to record for Stage Stars, and I was so happy to be a part of the album. I have always wanted to be in The Sound of Music, but it just never happened. So, I guess, if I can't be in the show, I may as well sing from it! In this recording, I cover Rolf Gruber, and I am joined by the lovely Samantha Meckes as Liesl.

"Hear" (from Broadcast by Scott Murphy & Nathan Christensen) - Lead Vocals

I recorded this song for the composer/lyricist while they were making a demo CD promoting their show. With the help of the demo, they went on to win both the Richard Rodgers Award and the Jonathan Larson Award!

"I Want to Fly" (by Robert Lindsey Nassif) - Lead Vocals

This is a live recording from "Stars Over Texas", a musical revue produced by the Texas Star Theatre. This production was made of all-new, never-before performed songs written by Broadway and cabaret composers. The show was directed by John Znidarsic, a major figure on NYC musical theater scene. I was very happy to be part of this show.

"Yard Sale" (by Tom Andersen) - Lead Vocals

This is another live recording from Texas Star Theatre's production of "Stars Over Texas". This is, perhaps, one of the prettiest songs I've ever sung, but it's story is one of the saddest. You can hear the audience chuckling in the beginning, but, by the end, they are dead quiet -- a sure sign that they were really taking the journey with me.

The Yellow Wood

In Fall of '04, I was hired by these two brilliant students of the NYU Graduate Musical Theater Writing program, composer Danny Larsen and lyricist Michelle Elliott, to take part in their senior thesis project. It was a presentation of one act of the musical they had spent two years writing, The Yellow Wood. I played Adam, the show's protagonist.
A year later, they called me up and asked if I would take part in the demo recording of this musical so they could shop it around for scholarships and grants, for further development and a fully produced mounting. I gladly jumped onboard, we recorded, and, with the recording, Danny and Michelle won the 2006 Richard Rodgers Award!

"Because" - Featured Vocals

In this song -- and for the rest of the demo -- Danny Larsen sings lead on Adam's part. I sing the part of his father, a political lackey for the Governor. What was fun about that was that I got to really experiment with making myself sound older.

"The Undergrowth" - Featured Vocals

This crazy song takes place all in Adam's head (as he is suffering from ADD). I got to have a really generous solo at the beginning of the song. The recording for this one was really intense but so much fun!

"Smooth" - Featured Vocals

In this song, I play the part of Adam's best friend, Casserole. You'll hear me come in about half-way through with a brilliant "Whoa-o-o-o-o-oh!" It's stellar voice acting at it's best...or at least that's what my mom says. The rest of the song, after that, is much better. :)
